Mindfulness is a practice that consists of paying full attention to the present moment, without judging or reacting to what is happening. It is about observing with curiosity and acceptance what is happening inside us (thoughts, emotions, sensations) and in our environment (sounds, smells, images).

Mindfulness has multiple benefits for our physical and mental health.. Some of them are:

It reduces stress and anxiety by helping us to regulate our emotions and calm our mind.

Improves concentration and memory by training our ability to focus on what we do and avoid distractions.

It fosters self-esteem and self-awareness by facilitating self-knowledge and respect for our needs and limits.

It enhances creativity and problem solving by stimulating our minds to explore new possibilities and perspectives.

It favors interpersonal relationships by developing our empathy and assertive communication.

To practice mindfulness, no special material or condition is required.. It only takes a little time and willpower. There are different ways to do it, for example:

Meditation: consists of sitting comfortably, closing our eyes and focusing our attention on our breath or on some other object (a sound, a word, an image). It is about observing what is going through our mind without getting caught up in it or judging it. If we get distracted, we gently return to the breath or the chosen object.

Mindfulness exercises: consist of performing some daily activity with full awareness, such as eating, walking, showering or brushing your teeth. It is about paying attention to the sensations we experience in each moment, such as tastes, smells, textures or sounds.

Yoga: consists of performing a series of body postures that combine breathing, movement and balance. It is about being present in our body and in our sensations, without forcing or competing.

Mindfulness is a practice that can be incorporated into our daily life in a simple and gradual way.. It is not about making it perfect or achieving any result. It is about enjoying the process and the benefits it brings. Mindfulness is a way of life more conscious, more fulfilled and happier.

If you want to start practicing mindfulness and incorporate it into your daily routine until it becomes a healthy habit, do not hesitate to contact us and we will be happy to help you achieve it.

La entrada ¿Qué es el mindfulness y cómo puede ayudarme? se publicó primero en Psicología Corbacho.

Many people wonder whether or not they need to go to therapy, and when is the right time to do so. The answer is not simple, as it depends on many personal and situational factors. However, there are some signs that may indicate that it may be appropriate to seek professional help.

In general, it is recommended to initiate psychological therapy when:

You feel that there is a problem that affects you negatively in your personal, family, work or social life, and that you are not able to solve by yourself.

You experience intense and unpleasant emotions, such as anxiety, sadness, anger, guilt or fear, which prevent you from enjoying the things you like or fulfilling your obligations.

You have difficulty relating to others, either due to lack of confidence, shyness, aggressiveness, jealousy, dependence or isolation.

You have suffered a significant loss, such as the death of a loved one, a breakup, a job layoff or a serious illness, and you are unable to cope with the grief.

You have physical symptoms that have no apparent medical cause, such as headaches, insomnia, fatigue, digestive or sexual problems.

You repeat patterns of behavior that harm you or make you feel dissatisfied, such as procrastinating, binge eating, smoking, drinking or consuming other substances.

You want to improve some aspect of your personality, such as your self-esteem, your assertiveness, your creativity or your motivation.

Psychological therapy is a process that helps you to know yourself better. It is not a sign of weakness or insanity, but a courageous and responsible decision to take care of your mental and emotional health. This is not a sign of weakness or insanity, but a courageous and responsible decision to take care of your mental and emotional health.

Psychological therapy is developed in several phases: the initial evaluation, where information about the problem is gathered and objectives are established; the intervention itself, where the most appropriate techniques are applied according to the case; the follow-up, where the results are evaluated and relapses are prevented; and the therapeutic discharge, where the process is terminated.

If you think you can benefit from psychological therapy, do not hesitate to contact us in confidence. Remember that asking for help is the first step in improving your well-being and quality of life..
